What’s in the Box?

What & why

This activity helps you build a futures world through storytelling and creative writing. A box of either seemingly random, carefully selected, totally ordinary or abstract items can suddenly become something both magical and unexpected if only observed and described by an open and future-focused mind.

How

Create a box of 4-10 items and give it to your team(s). Stage-set it as if this box has arrived from the futures world they are creating. Be specific on when they are to open the box and look at the objects. Make sure they are in the right future world's mindset. If possible, dedicate some time in making the box look less ordinary even if the elements inside are common in today's world.
